ADAM, THE GLORIOUS MAN NOW IN OBSCURITY I.

Adam was the only person created in God’s image. After the fall, all humanity took the form of his likeness and image. However, in Christ we have been restored to God’s image and likeness.

Genesis 1:26 AMP

God said, Let Us [Father, Son, and Holy Spirit] make mankind in Our image, after Our likeness, .....

Genesis 3:7 AMP

Then the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked;.......

Romans 3:23 KJV

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

INTRODUCTION

God’s intention of creating the world was to extend His kingdom from Heaven. Having created the world and everything in it He decided to make an ambassador (His replica) to rule the earth in His stead. This brought the idea of creating Adam, the first man.

EXPOSITION

Adam the first man was created for a divine purpose by God in His own IMAGE (physical appearance) and LIKENESS ( characters, attitudes and attributes)

When Adam sinned against God, there was a change which affected his nature and behaviour. This was the absence of God’s glory. In Genesis 3, it has not been explicitly written that the glory departed from him but the Bible says he saw that he was naked. This might be that there was something either covering his eyes or his body. Apostle Paul said in the book of Romans 3:23, that the repercussion of sin is the absence of God’s glory. Therefore, Adam lost the glory of God after sinning.

Adam the glorious man was now in a dark trodden and adamant helpless obscurity and eternal damnation transporting this to the generations in his loins yet unborn by default.

THE IMPLICATION OF THE DEPARTED GLORY

1. He fled from God even when God came to seek him. Gen. 3:8-10

2. He tried to solve his own problem by attempting to restore the lost glory of God. That was very pathetic. Gen. 3:7

3. He caused the death of a lamb. The first recorded blood spilt on the surface of the earth. Gen. 3:21

4. Death and eternal damnation on the human race. Gen.3:19

THE GOOD NEWS

Jesus Christ has come to restore this lost glory back to humanity.

This is for all humanity but for those who believe Him as the Son of God who died for our sins and was resurrected for our justification and restoration of the Glory of God.

APPLICATION

1. No man can seek to find God without His help. From creation, God has been seeking man to be restored back to the original glory. This is however specific in the call of Jesus to salvation.

2. Any form of restoration of the lost glory  aside Christ is perishable. Adam sew for himself a garment of leaves. What if it dries or was the leaves strong enough to withstand harmattan? The glory of God is irreplaceable, save from the original source.

3. The penalty of Sin has been paid by Jesus Christ. Give your life to Him and surrender your will to Him and you will enjoy the glory.

May God have mercy on us all.
